Official biography of François Aviles

Sculpted portraits shaped by light, memory, and aluminium.

François, a Paris-born self-taught artisan sculptor, creates realistic portraits crafted from fine aluminium sheet, enhanced with LED illumination, and presented on a solid wood base.

Biography

A body of work built through observation, material, and realistic portraiture.

For many years, François has drawn inspiration from the world of realistic portraiture, creating unique, exclusive, and fully personalized works from photographs entrusted to him by those wishing to transform a memory, a presence, or an emotion into a singular artwork.

Sunlight becomes an essential element of the creative process, revealing the subtle details of each face through a delicate interplay of shadows and natural light. Each aluminium sculpture is accompanied by a refined LED composition designed to enhance the authenticity of expression and give every artwork a deeply emotional presence.

Through raw aluminium, François expresses his fascination with material itself. This metal shapes much of his artistic identity and nourishes his work as a self-taught creator of realistic and exclusive portrait sculptures.

To him, aluminium embodies both strength and softness, hardness and tenderness, cold and warmth. These contrasts continually enrich his creativity and his passion for realistic art.

Process and work

The technique does not hide emotion. It reveals it.

Aluminium can be shaped both hot and cold. While cold work often limits creative possibilities, François’ sculptures stand precisely as the exception, turning limitation into artistic expression.

Material and gesture

Working with hand tools and a direct relationship to metal, François shapes portraits that avoid repetition and preserve the singular character of each gaze.

Illuminated presence

Each LED composition heightens the truth of expression and turns the sculpture into an intimate, almost cinematic presence.
